Designed for service to citizens, rather than a monument to government, the 14-acre Huntington Beach Civic Center provides a flexible, open-end plan that can adjust to and grow with the requirements of an expanding local government.
Components of the city government complex include four individual structures which form integrated parts of the center as a whole. These facilities contain: Administration; Council Chambers and Conference Center; Development Departments; Finance, Planning, Building and Safety, and Public Works; and the Police Department and Detention Center. A subterranean lower level is common to and connects all buildings.
M&AA, in association with Honnald, Rebsamen & Rex, Architects, was responsible for the Master Plan and all architectural and engineering requirements.
