This independent living facility for senior citizens provides 66 apartments on a four and one-half acre site. The one-bedroom units are grouped in small, cottage-like four-plexes, reminiscent of single family houses. Affordability of the units was assured through a subsidy from the Farmer’s Home Administration.
Utilizing the four-plex as a basic module, the site was planned to provide a rich array of open spaces and courtyards between the units and to create a sense of individual identity for each apartment in the development. While achieving a density of 14.7 units per acre, this design provides a sense of luxury and independent living for lower income senior citizens.
