As part of their planning for Los Angeles’s Metro Rail Red Line, the Los Angeles County Transportation Commission retained M&AA to prepare a Master Plan Assessment Study for the Hollywood/Western Station. The final plan provided guidelines for development of the portal site and called for a mix of residential and community uses, as well as the station entrance portal.
Land use and urban design guidelines were developed for the parcels immediately surrounding the intersection, along with recommendations for traffic improvements in the surrounding neighborhood.
The plan provided specific design recommendations for the station’s portal configuration. These recommendations covered siting, design and connections to surrounding development. The station entrance was implemented in accordance with M&AA’s recommendations.
The station and surrounding parcels have been developed in accordance with the report’s recommendations.
