M&AA prepared this update of the Orange County Civic Center Plan in joint venture with the Archiplan Collaborative. The planning process included a space needs program and a comprehensive strategy for development.
The Plan encompassed a projected increase from 1,500,000 sq. ft. of government space to a total requirement of over 2,000,000 sq. ft. of government buildings. Development strategies presented in the Plan provided physical alternatives for achievement of the diverse goals and objectives of various government and private agencies. These strategies incorporated use of the existing facilities with plans for maximization of efficiency in government operations at the Civic Center.
New facilities include: Federal and State offices, County courts, County administrative buildings, City administrative space and a police building; in addition to the expansion of existing library facilities and parking structures.
